1. Grey Towers

This historic monument was built as an ancestral home of Gifford Pinchot in the township of Milford during the 1880s which is certainly one of my favorite attractions in the region.  Gifford Pinchot, a Governor, conservationist and the first chief of the US Forest service built this estate in 100 acres of space, which later was declared as a historic place and is open to the public with many special events and tours.

Today, this historic monument provides many amenities and fun things to do in  Milford, PA such as leadership training, conference center, trails, wayside exhibits, free visitor films,  gift shops, ticketed museum tours, visitors center and free parking.

A Gothic Revival building established in the 1880s at the corner of Broad and Harford Streets in Milford, Forest Hall is an enormous, three-story, eight-bay wide building in a French Normandy Style. The historic monument includes small towers, dormers, gables, a steep pointed roof and three bluestone chimneys.

However, Forest Hall was initially meant to be a post office designed by Calvert Vaux in 1863. Now, this monument is a unique Incubator for the arts and provides many events, art exhibitions and business meetings too. This water-powered mill is restored and operates a water wheel and is open to the public with a free self- guided tour. You just have to take a short walk or drive from Milford’s center towards a separate historic district with three buildings which is the Upper Mill.

Upper Mill is the vestige of PA’s milling history and today it is home to a busy bakery-cafe-bar, general store with gift emporium, alongside a woman’s apparel boutique.
