Blakeslee is an unincorporated community in Tobyhanna township and was named after the first postmaster, Jacob Blakeslee Jr., appointed in 1883. He was also very active in local government, was elected as Justice of the peace (between 1861-1886), and served as Tobyhanna Township supervisor (1864-1866).
