History

Blakeslee is an unincorporated community in Tobyhanna township and was named after the first postmaster, Jacob Blakeslee Jr., appointed in 1883. He was also very active in local government, was elected as Justice of the peace (between 1861-1886), and served as Tobyhanna Township supervisor (1864-1866).

How to Reach Blakeslee

You can reach Blakeslee via train, bus, flight, or drive. The nearest major airport is Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport, just 22 miles away from Blakeslee. 

The cheapest way to get to Blakeslee from New York City is to drive. This 100 miles drive will take around 1hr 50 minutes. Traveling via Bus will take close to 2hrs and 15 minutes and will cost around $40-$60.

The fastest route: take Hudson St and I-78 W to NJ-139 W in Jersey City. Follow I-280 W and I-80 W to P-115 in Blakeslee. Take exit 284 from I-80 W and follow PA-115 to PA-940 W.
